Soils Data Available on CD

The Gallatin Conservation District is providing soils and other relevant data, aerial photos, digital topographic maps, and elevation images that can be used with a free ESRI data viewer.  Also available is the Microsoft Access database containing all the scientific data related to NRCS soils for Gallatin County and the new NRCS soil report generator, which allows the public to produce their own reports.

These products are all available on one CD, which can be purchased through the Conservation District for $15.00. If you are interested in purchasing one or more CDs, please contact The Gallatin Conservation District at 522-4011 to place your order or to request the NEW published soil survey

 

If you would like to make a request for soils information, you must use the following official form, and you must include a location map. If you do not have access to any maps, please let us know. If necessary, you may come to our office and use our resources.

Return your completed form and map to our office via US mail (see the Contact Information link to the left), or your may fax it to 585-1272.

To View a Gallatin County Soil Map on the Internet
1. Go to http://nris.state.mt.us/mapper/
2. Select a "Search and Build Maps by" option. Township and Range is a good selection option.
3. Next select the soils theme. Click on "Gallatin County SSURGO Soils" which is at the bottom right of the list.
4. A map will pop up. You can turn on a different background by checking the appropriate button on the lower right of the window. Refresh the map by either panning or zooming.
